With many entertainment venues in the Greater Nashville area canceling shows until further notice, several arts organizations are calling for community support to sustain them until they can resume operations.

Led by Franklin-based regional theater group Studio Tenn, the organization is made up of several local groups, including the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, the Nashville Symphony, the Nashville Ballet, the Nashville Opera, the Nashville Children’s Theatre and more.

The groups released a statement March 30:

“At this time, we are asking you, our community, for your continued support during this temporary hiatus. Our organizations serve Middle Tennessee by providing entertainment, education, employment, enlightenment, and inspiration, and we need your support now to ensure that we can continue to serve you after this temporary crisis has passed.”

Those who have purchased tickets to shows that were subsequently canceled or postponed are being asked to donate the price of their tickets back to the organizations, all of which are 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

The group is also calling for local legislators to include arts organizations in relief efforts currently being proposed by lawmakers and is asking residents to continue to support arts programs through social media by interacting with and sharing content.
