NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was killed in a crash that involved a Metro Nashville Police officer.

MNPD officials say a pickup truck driver ran a stop sign at Bear Hollow Road and Clarksville Pike. The truck reportedly hit a Ford Fusion, which then hit the MNPD police cruiser.

Officer Ben Cantrell’s shift had just ended and he was on his way home.

Officials said an occupant in the Fusion died from their injuries and Officer Cantrell was sent to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment to a broken arm and injured wrist and hand.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody and is being investigated for a possible DUI.

The name of the person who died in the crash has not been released.
