Widespread flooding hits Robertson, Sumner Counties  NewsChannel5.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Flood waters began to cover roads in the mid-state Monday afternoon.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Macon, Robertson and Sumner counties until 6:45 p.m. as well as Christian and Trigg counties until 9:45 p.m.

In Robertson County, Emergency Management Agency’s officials told Smokey Barn News that reports of flooding have been made on the following roads:

We currently have reports of flooding on Kinney’s Road, Fulton Road, Abedinego Road, Martins Chapel, Lipscomb Lane, Mt. Zion Rd and Memorial Boulevard in Springfield between 8th and Central. Reports also stated that Woods Road in Coopertown, Reeder School Road and Mt. Sharon Road in Greenbrier were impassible.

A woman was rescued after being swept away in her vehicle while trying to get across a flooded road near Cross Plains. Sources told NewsChannel 5 the woman got out safely but the car was stuck in the high water.

The Robertson County Fairgrounds parking lot in Springfield was flooded as the creek nearby rose out of its banks. City officials also said the Springfield Greenway would be closed until further notice.

Dickson County officials say the following roads were closed due to reported flood waters: Starks Road, Soules chap at Freeman, New Dry Hollow Road, Centerpoint at Pucket, Bear Creek, Swift Road and Bell Hollow.
