Country music power couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood broadcast live today from a Habitat from Humanity construction site in Nashville, Tennessee, for “Inside Studio G,” Brooks’ weekly Facebook Live.

Brooks, who was born in Tulsa and grew up in Yukon, and Yearwood, a former Owasso resident, have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for more than a decade. The couple first volunteered with Habitat in New Orleans to help build the 1,000th and 1,001st post-Hurricane Katrina Habitat homes on the Gulf Coast. They also have lent their names and support to numerous Habitat events and projects, including the Carter Work Project and National Women Build Week.

Former President Jimmy Carter and  former First Lady Rosalynn Carter also turned out today at the worksite. As the Associated Press reports, former President Carter took a fall at home on Sunday, requiring 14 stitches, but he did not let his injuries keep him from participating in his 36th building project with the nonprofit Christian housing organization. He turned 95 last Tuesday, becoming the first U.S. president to reach that milestone.

The Carters and the country superstars were joined on the worksite by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee. Brooks said the Carters are working on a feature on the porch for each of the 21 homes that will be constructed in Nashville this week during the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.

Habitat for Humanity homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
