NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — After almost a week of unseasonably warm temperatures things are about to change for the final days of 2019! A cold front approaching the NewsChannel 5 viewing area will not only bring cooler (seasonal) temperatures, but also the concern of heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding Sunday.

Sunday will be a soggy day with widespread rain across the area. Sunday afternoon and evening is when the heaviest of the rain is expected to sweep through the area along with a cold front that will drop temperatures to near seasonal numbers…upper 40s. But, 1″-3″ of rain will be possible that could lead to flash flooding. This, along with windy conditions have prompted us to call for a Storm 5 Alert from 3pm Sunday – Midnight. While tornadoes do not appear likely at this time a isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
