Storm 5 Alert: Cold front bringing storms this afternoon – NewsChannel5.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The possibility of a few strong to severe storms has prompted a Storm 5 Alert for Monday.

A powerful cold front will bring scattered rain and storms to the area beginning during the morning hours. The threat for a few storm to severe storms is greatest late morning into the afternoon and early evening hours. The risk for more widespread severe storms is south of us today.

Some areas could see 2-3” of rain, and that may lead to some localized flash flooding and prompted a Flash Flood Watch for northern Middle Tennessee.

The Storm Prediction Center has areas south of I-40 under a “marginal” risk (level 1 of 5) to see a strong storm during the afternoon. Damaging wind gusts are our primary concern with a low risk for an isolated tornado.
