NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A woman was killed in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Nashville, and police are looking for her “armed and dangerous” ex-boyfriend.

Metro Nashville Police officials say 30-year-old Brandon Horton shot and killed 30-year-old Temptress Peebles.

Kris Mumford with MNPD says the pair has a history of domestic violence. Peebles had been staying at a family members home, but was making trips to and from her home on the 2200 block of Morena Street to pick up personal items for herself and 8-year-old daughter.

On Thursday, she made another trip home, but that’s when the shooting took place in the street.

Police say they’re still gathering details, but the vehicle door was still open and they don’t think she made it inside. Witnesses say they saw the two arguing and Horton chasing her in the street. When officers got there, they found her lying in the road.

Her daughter was present at the time of the incident. She ran to a neighbor’s house. Horton got away in a black SUV.

Horton was wanted for probation violation and on outstanding warrants charging him with domestic assault and burglary of a motor vehicle for a similar attack on Oct. 6. Peebles went home to gather some things and Horton had reportedly attacked her in the street, throwing her down, punching her and pulling her hair.

Horton also had outstanding warrants charging him with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary for a July incident in which Peebles reported that Horton had kicked in the door to her home and pointed a gun at her. A January 2019 domestic assault charge was dismissed in February.

He has convictions for facilitating 2nd degree murder and attempted aggravated robbery and should be considered to be armed and dangerous.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you or anyone you know is looking for safety from an abusive relationship, several resources can be found in Nashville. Click here to see them all .
