News Suspect sought in homicide of 19-year-old in East Nashville Laken Bowles 7:38  NewsChannel5.com

A 19-year-old man has died following a shooting in East Nashville. The victim and suspect have both been identified. Police are searching for the suspect.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The 19-year-old man who died following a shooting in East Nashville and the suspect in his homicide have been identified.

40-year-old Theymous Hicks is now wanted for the criminal homicide of Rodney Bates, Jr., police say.

The incident happened Wednesday around 10:15 p.m. in the Cayce Homes neighborhood. Metro Nashville police said Bates was found outside building 47 with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to an Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police say Hicks and Bates reportedly argued earlier in the day; however, a motive remains under investigation.

Hicks is a registered ex-con for weapons violations, with prior convictions for rape and aggravated assault. He was serving a six-year probated sentence for a 2018 cocaine possession conviction.

This is the 46th murder in Nashville this year. 78% of those have involved a gun.
