Local clothing designer prints photographs of Nashville’s Black Lives Matter protest on T-shirts – NewsChannel5.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Photographs of Nashville’s Black Lives Matter protests are being shared around the country and now you can wear them.

Nashville clothing brand Cashville Etc. is selling three T-shirts featuring photographs of the Teens 4 Equality protest.

“We’ve done a lot of T-shirts that have helped a lot of people or people have connected to them really well, but this one I feel like is going to be the most intriguing one we have to offer,” said Carlos Partee.

Partee teamed up with local photographer Jeff Shibley to make the shirts.

“It definitely felt like history,” said Shibley, who attended the June 4th protest.

Shibley snapped 637 pictures at the march.

“Facial expressions, signs, people talking to the police. So many different colors. It was beautiful,” Shibley said.

Shibley and Partee said the three photos they are featuring on the $30 shirts best showcase Nashville and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Partee grew up in Music City and said previously, he would not have expected crowds of people to support this kind of movement.

“I remember a time growing up, you were afraid… you wouldn’t want to go out and protest. You didn’t feel like you could or you had anyone that felt the same way that you did. So now that we have tens of thousands people feeling the same way… I think Nashville is growing in a better way,” Partee said.

Thirty-percent of the profits will be donated to Gideon’s Army, a local group that advocates for black youth.

The partners want the t-shirts to sell, but more importantly they want the protesters’ message to stick.

“We don’t want to be looked at as less. We don’t want to be valued any different. We’re people just like any other color and that’s the main thing I want people to see out of this,” Shibley said.
