Gaylord Opryland kicks off ‘A Country Christmas'

Neighborhood Watch informational meeting – Clarksville
Monday, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The Clarksville Police Department will host an informational meeting on how community members can start and maintain an effective neighborhood watch program. The meeting is free and open to everyone at the police department located at 135 Commerce Street.

Campus Cupboard grand opening – Nashville State Community College
Tuesday, 10:30 a.m.

Nashville State Community College will unveil its new on-campus food pantry program on Tuesday. The Campus Cupboard will provide food, personal care items and hygiene products for students at the White Bridge Road campus. The grand opening event will happen on the first floor of the Clement Building located at 120 White Bridge Road.

Nashville goes teal for Alzheimer’s awareness – Nashville
Thursday

As part of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, several landmarks around Nashville are “going teal” to shine a spotlight on the disease and show support for the million of people affected by it. The Tennessee State Capitol, Bridgestone Arena, Nashville City Center, OMNI Nashville Hotel, Tennessee Performing Arts Center and Fifth Third Center are all participating.

Opryland tree lighting ceremony – Gaylord Opryland
Thursday, 5:45 p.m.

The Gaylord Opryland is getting into the Christmas spirit this week with its annual lighting ceremony. Bill Cody will emcee the ceremony, with a special performance by Trace Adkins. Then, joined by the cast from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical, the special guests will flip the switch for the resort’s 3 million holiday lights. The ceremony will take place on the Magnolia Lawn.

Field of Honor at the Hermitage – Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage
Friday, 2 p.m.

Ahead of Veteran’s Day, 1,000 American flags will cover Victory Field at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage as part of the annual Field of Honor. On Friday, a dedication ceremony will kick off the exhibit, that pays tribute to the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. The event is free and will last through the weekend.
