October 1, 2020: Mimosa Masterpieces – Atlanta, GA

If you’re looking for a night out, Mimosa Masterpieces at Our Bar ATL is a great option. Not only do you get a free mimosa, but you also get to participate in a painting class while you drink. October 1 – 4, 2020: Nashville Heritage Foundation Online Auction – Franklin, TN

The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County’s Make It Happen 2020 Online Auction features some amazing items, ranging from a luxurious trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico to a virtual chat with country superstar Kelsea Ballerini and her singer/songwriter husband Morgan Evans. Proceeds from the event benefit the Heritage Foundation in Franklin, TN, which works to preserve the stories and places of Williamson County. October 1 – 11, 2020: Southern Festival of Books – Nashville, TN

Join readers and writers from Tennessee for the virtual Southern Festival of Books on October 1 through 11. The free event celebrates the joys of reading and features panels with over 100 authors. October 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29, 2020: Musicians Corner Sundown Series – Nashville, TN

If you’re missing live music, look no further. The Nashville-based Musicians Corner Sundown Series is a virtual live music event that takes place every Thursday at 8 p.m. on the Musicians Corner’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The free event aims to showcase live music to people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. October 1 – 31, 2020: Cheekwood Harvest – Nashville, TN

Nashville’s Cheekwood Harvest is the perfect way to celebrate the start of fall. Cheekwood Harvest has a series of garden events that are family-friendly, such as pumpkin picking, the Halloween Pooch Parade, virtual viewings of the Japanese moon and a virtual El Día de los Muertos celebration. The event takes place Thursday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets range from $9 to $28. cheekwood.org

October 2 – 4, 2020: Art in the Loop – Memphis, TN

ArtWorks Foundation presents the 3rd Annual Art in The Loop. The event features jewelry, paintings, photography and other art made from metal, glass, wood, fiber and clay. In addition to fine art, the event also offers food from some of Memphis’ best food trucks. The celebration takes place at Ridgeway Loop Road between Briarcrest Avenue and Ridge Bend Road. Hours of operation are October 2, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; October 3, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and October 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free to attend. artintheloop.org

October 2 – 18, 2020: Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru – Dallas, TX

In lieu of the iconic State Fair of Texas, the Dallas event has moved to a drive-thru format. However, the fair still offers everyone’s favorite foods, such as Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs, cotton candy, Stiffler’s Fried Oreos and more. Tickets begin at $65 and are sold in time slots at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. from October 2 through 18. bigtex.com

October 2 – 31, 2020: St. James Court Art Show – Louisville, KY

While Louisville’s St. James Court Art Show has gone virtual, you can still expect to find ceramics, jewelry, handbags and more from over 700 U.S. artisans. The free event begins at 10 a.m. on October 2 and ends October 31 at 10 p.m. Artisans include Three Wheel Studio, Dose Creative, Varu handbags, Bianca Gedeon and many more. eventeny.com

October 4, 2020: BHM26.2 – Birming, AL

While the full marathon, marathon relay and fun run have been cancelled, you can still head to Birmingham, AL, on October 4 for the BHM26.2 half marathon and 5K. The half marathon begins at 7 a.m. and the 5K starts at 7:30 a.m. The course begins at Brookwood Village and runs through the Lakeshore Trail and downtown Homewood. At the end of the race, participants can come together at Macy’s at Brookwood Village to receive takeout from Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ and a to-go cocktail from Tito’s Vodka. All proceeds from the event benefit Magic Moments and Children’s of Alabama. Registration is $85 for the half marathon and $35 for the 5K. bhm262.com.

October 10, 2020: NC Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Express Festival – Raleigh, NC

Visit Lafayette Village in Raleigh, NC, on October 10 at noon to experience the NC Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Festival. This year’s celebration is in a smaller format and features “party boxes” of local and regional chocolates and cheeses, along with a variety of wines from Italy, Spain, France and, of course, North Carolina. Packages start at $59.99 and are available for pickup beginning October 6. The festival also offers tasting classes for an additional cost. eventbrite.com

October 10, 2020: The Taste of B. Cooking MASKurade Ball – Atlanta, GA

Atlanta’s Taste of B. Cooking MASKurade Ball is an exciting event that includes food, drinks, music and masquerade masks. Guests have the opportunity to taste one of three premiere cuisines from Chef Brian Reeves, as well as a delicious appetizer and dessert. In addition to amazing food, attendees can also watch a musical performance by LaSha’ Knox. The event takes place on October 10 at 7 p.m. at 552 West End Place South West. October 20 & 21, 2020: Drive-Through State Fair – Columbia, SC

For the first time ever, South Carolina hosts a free drive-thru state fair. Cars are able to drive through the fairgrounds and interact with car-friendly attractions that highlight the best of South Carolina. The event includes state fair food, animals, exhibits and crafts. October 22, 2020: Harvest at Home – Birmingham, AL

Harvest at Home is a meal delivery event where Birmingham residents can enjoy a three-course meal for two catered by Black Sheep Kitchen. The meal includes a carefully curated wine pairing and Cookie Fix sweets. Supporters also have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items through the event’s online auction, which goes live on October 19. October 29, 2020: Jimmie Allen at Fourth Street Live!

Head to Louisville’s premier dinning and entertainment district on October 29 to catch a performance by country singer Jimmie Allen. The concert takes place at PBR Louisville, and doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets bought in advance are $15, and those purchased on the day of the show are $20.
