NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Ongoing construction on Interstate 440 will change traffic patterns Monday.
Tennessee Department of Transportation crews plan to start shifting traffic from outer lanes to inner lanes in the beginning of the week.
By the end of September, all traffic will be moved to the inside lanes of 440. All entrance and exit ramps will change, and officials urged drivers to be aware and cautious as they navigate these major changes.
The change will stretch from West End and to Brightwood. They are working to make the road smoother and safer.
The $153 million project started in March. It’s on schedule to be completed in a year.
Workers have already recycled more than 100,000 yards of concrete and laid as new base stone, and laid more than 60,000 tons of asphalt.
More than 200 employees are working on the project 24/7.
