CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Democratic Party hosted a Democratic Voices Panel last night at The Tanglewood House. The open event gave citizens interested in politics a chance to meet with representatives at the state and federal levels.

The panel consisted of State Representatives Jason Hodges of Clarksville, Darren Jernigan of Nashville, and London Lamar of Nashville. Also in attendance were Justin Kanew of The Tennessee Holler and U.S. Senate Candidate James Mackler.

Among the topics discussed were healthcare, education, gun control, and government corruption. Each member gave their take on each issue thoroughly, and every member had an opportunity to speak about each issue.

MCDP Chairwoman Kennedy Voxe expressed that political discourse cannot be limited to discussions on social networks, town halls, and the opinions of television personalities. “We absolutely have to be proactive when it comes to [the issue of] education. This work has to start now, and the MCDP is going to have to fight hard over the next 7 months to combat the political apathy that is so prevalent in this county.”

The organization hopes to hold more events like these in the future and invites citizens to follow its Facebook or visit their website for updates.
