NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It’s been 100 years since women secured the right to vote.

To celebrate the first lady, Melania Trump, selected students from a national art competition to be showcased in an exhibit in front of the White House that represented the women’s suffrage movement.

A 17-year-old high school senior from Nashville was chosen to represent Tennessee.

“At first I felt like I didn’t believe it,” said Madison Eddins, “It’s really an honor to represent Tennessee.”

The national art exhibit “Building the Movement: America’s Youth Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage” featured students in grades 3-12.

The exhibit depicts individuals, objects and events that hold significant meaning to the women’s suffrage movement.

Eddins, a senior at Nashville School of the Arts chose to draw Ida B. Wells, Sue Shelton White, and J. Frankie Pierce.
