NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — About 130 of Middle Tennessee’s most vulnerable people will have to find a new home by January 31, 2021.

Signature HealthCARE currently operates Nashville Community Care and Rehabilitation at Bordeaux.

It says the facility will shut down when their contract with the city ends.

“We will have to have patients be transitioned from there to another facility and at the moment we don’t have a plan in place for that,” said council member Brandon Taylor.

City officials say no one submitted a bid to take over the property. Now, council members are scrambling to find a solution.

“There are other options,” said council member Ginny Welsh. “Bordeaux used to be run by Nashville general hospital. We could reabsorb Bordeaux into the hospital there or we can explore the CARES act funding.”

Families are worried about moving their loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Of all the things we are worried about like the pandemic,” said Rev. Claudia Wright, who has a family member as a resident at the facility. “The facility they’re depending on suddenly closing during a pandemic, we never thought that would happen.”

Hundreds of workers will also have to find a new job.

Council members hope they can at least prolong the facility staying open, so families and workers aren’t rushed with the closure.
