Recent studies show that students who study music are more successful on standardized tests such as the SAT. They also achieve higher grades in high school.
Nashville Singers is a nonprofit performing arts organization that is committed to supporting music education in public schools and the community by providing funding and other resources. In 2011, Nashville Singers started its Music Makes a Difference grant program to provide financial assistance to school music programs serving “at-risk” youth. This year’s grant was $500 and was awarded to Overton High School.
In addition to the Music Makes a Difference grant program, the organization also offers the following programs:
- Young Singers Project
- Middle & High School Master Classes
- Educator of the Future Program (college scholarship for seniors pursuing a music education degree)
- Free Singing Lessons Program
