A partnership among Bellevue Middle School students, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Bellevue Exchange Club and local muralist Michael Cooper resulted in a community art project that transformed a bridge into a neighborhood landmark.
Bellevue Middle School art students sketch initial designs for the bridge mural project. The students worked with Cooper to develop the background for the bridge, which he repainted to look like an architectural stone gallery.
The bridge is located in River Plantation, one of the areas affected by the widespread flooding in May 2010. Cooper donated paint, brushes and other supplies for the project, and many local Bellevue residents pitched in with the painting.
Bellevue Middle School art students show their completed artwork, to be displayed on the bridge.
