Advocate
Our elected officials play a critical role in the education of our children. Get involved with Stand for Children, an advocacy group whose members are parents, educators and concerned citizens. Stand for Children builds networks and provides training for members to become effective leaders in their communities and to petition elected officials about education and children’s programs.
The Nashville chapter of Stand for Children leads a school funding coalition, Friends of Metro Schools, focused on making sure school funding is a budget priority for lawmakers at the state and local levels.
We work on such issues as:
- Increasing funding for schools;
- Ensuring that every classroom has a highly effective teacher; and
- Supporting early education programs that help prepare children for kindergarten.
