Nashville residents should expect downtown road closures ahead of the city hosting the 2019 NFL Draft to begin as soon as April 5.

The draft is expected to be the largest public special event ever held in Nashville and is anticipated to draw over 100,000 people to the area during its first day, according to a Metro Nashville police news release.

The draft will formally take place on April 25 through April 27. The main stage from which draft picks will be announced is to be constructed by the NFL at Riverfront Park and will face Broadway.

Nashville police will use 400 officers per day, most in uniform, others in plainclothes for security and traffic.

Nashville police officers will also help with the 20th Annual St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon on Saturday, April 27.

Stage construction will close roads in early April

Downtown road closures ahead of the NFL Draft will begin on Friday, April 5, according to a Nashville police news release.

Closures are expected on First Avenue from Demonbreun to Church streets, and Broadway from First to Second avenues. The streets will close to allow for stage construction.
